The legal profession was a lucrative one during times where criminality was soaring amongst the growing Parisian proletariat, and suppressed harshly by the bourgeoisie who enriched themselves at their expense. HONORE DAUMIER (1808-1879) French artist, lithographer, caricaturist and painter who was famed for his biting satire. He was imprisoned once for six months in 1832 after drawing a cartoon of King Louis Philippe. Daumier produced about 4,000 lithographs and some 200 paintings, but did not receive major recognition until after his death. This fine art statue is made of bonded stone and measures 11.5"H x 4"W x 7"D.
