Product Description

Daumier had been familiar with the world of notary ship ever since his youth, because for some time he worked as a clerk at a solicitorís office. The slippers and the richly ornamented long robe were typical of the Parisian, money-thirsty notaries of those days. HONORE DAUMIER (1808-1879) French artist, lithographer, caricaturist and painter who was famed for his biting satire. He was imprisoned once for six months in 1832 after drawing a cartoon of King Louis Philippe. Daumier produced about 4,000 lithographs and some 200 paintings, but did not receive major recognition until after his death. This fine art statue is made of cultured marble and measures 7"H (18cm).
